Moongil rice, also known as bamboo rice, is a rare type of rice harvested from the seeds of flowering bamboo plants. It's considered a delicacy in some parts of South and Southeast Asia, particularly in South India.

Unlike regular rice, bamboo rice is not cultivated but rather collected from bamboo plants when they flower, which can be infrequent, sometimes only once in many decades.
